Hi, My name is Nicole Cherry aka Blazin B. I am a singer as well as a trained dancer. I have created this blog to keep up with the status of dancers and the perception of dance throughout the music industry. In many cases there are video vixens, that you may or may not consider dancers. I am personally not speaking of these females. I am talking about trained dancer who may travel with artist on tours, world renowned shows, and music videos. When you see these dancers, you know that they have had had previous training by observing the choreography they perform. Like myself these dancers take great pride in their craft and their training.
Honestly, I do not feel that commercialized dancers get a much respect as they deserve because they become mixed in with the dancers who's talent is limited. I want to help shine light on the dancer who are in the Usher, Britney Spears, and Beyonce videos etc. but also have training and can go beyond that level of dance. Nowadays it seems that being able to gyrate your body, shows that you limited in technical skill. This is definitely not true. In my opinion, since sex sells choreographers try to incorporate what the public eyes wants to see with what a dancer should knows technique wise and try to create a choreography based off of that. Without trained dancer in the music industry, there would not be such a large audience. The fans don't want to just an artist perform; they also want to see dancers, and gyration of the backside gets old. People want to be amazed and surprised.
Trained dancer are exposed to all types of dances and movement, making them capable doing movement that astonishes an average crowd. I mean look at the dancers that performed with Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson. These artist set a standard and still performed their songs. These dancers are trained and highly favored in the industry. Michael and Janet let it be known that there dancers made their show. I think I just want people to recognize the importance of being a dancer and their impact on the music industry. Dancers get a lot of flack and run around yet work just as hard as any athlete.
Hopefully as my blog life progresses, you will take great use and enlightenment from it.
Thank you,
Nikki
